This Weekend’s Season Ticket pick up
For those of you who have purchased season tickets for the 2009 Real Salt Lake MLS season, you will be able to stop out at Rio Tinto on Saturday (14th) and pick those tickets up. Here are the details:
This Saturday, March 14th, we will host our 4th annual Season Kick-off Event. This will be the first opportunity for you to receive your 2009 Season Tickets. The event will be here, at Rio Tinto Stadium, from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. There will be food provided in the stadium club, stadium tours on the half hour throughout the event and an opportunity for all Season Ticket Holders to become familiar with Flash Seats, the secondary ticketing side of our new ticket system, Veritix. Individuals from Flash Seats will be here presenting every hour, on the hour, a brief tutorial for how you can manage your tickets electronically if you prefer as well as options to place them up for resale on their secondary market. span style=”color: navy”>.
Any tickets that are not picked up that day will be scheduled for delivery the following week. Please see the next highlight regarding the stadium event on the 21st as you can request that we hold your tickets until that event for you to pick them up that day as well. If you are sending a proxy in your place to pick up tickets on Saturday, please reply to this e-mail with a notice granting approval for the person you are sending to pick those up.
The Team Store will be open that day as well from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. It does not appear that the new 2009 gear will be in stock on Saturday, so we would like to offer a special promotion for all Season Ticket Holders this Saturday, March 14th…50% off of all merchandise in stock at the Team Store that day!!!
Open House and Free RSL exhibition match
So many of us have wondered how long it would take for RSL to do a large open house event to show of the incredible Rio Tinto Stadium, with so much going on last fall and then the long winter it was no surprise that it took until now to get the open house event, but RSL has added even more for fans and those who just want to check it out. A free exhibition match against USL side Austin Aztex, who’s roster included former RSL player Kyle Brown, has been added to the fun that will take place at Rio Tinto Stadium on March 21st. Here are the details:
Rio Tinto Stadium will hold an Open House on Saturday, March 21st, presented by Sandy City. The Open House will include a first team game vs. the Austin Aztex kicks off at 1:00 p.m. The event is free to the public, and seating for that event will be general admission. Gates will open at 11:00 a.m.
As part of this event, there will be a Sandy City SoccerFest fundraiser taking place on the east side of the stadium beginning at 10:00 a.m. that morning. The proceeds of the fundraiser will go towards the Sandy City Rotary Club Foundation.
That day, following the game, all 24 RSL players will be available on the concourse for a photo opportunity with all fans. Autographs will not be permitted at that time. The players will be split up in groups of 3 players around the concourse, so that we can avoid a mass congestion in one location of the stadium. Each attendee that day will receive a map designating the location of each player so that you can be organized in your efforts to catch the players you want to see!
I have heard a couple version of events after the match as far as photos and autographs, I will check with RSL staff this week and try to get clarification, but I have to say that this is a great way to introduce any on the fence soccer fans that you might know to RSL and Rio Tinto.
Another Concert at Rio Tinto
Well first it was the Eagles, then it was Kenny Chesney, and now you can add some groups from the 80’s as REO Speedwagon, Styx, and .38 Special will include Rio Tinto on their upcoming tour. Here are the details:
Rio Tinto Stadium is proud to announce its third concert of the upcoming Spring/Summer, welcoming classic rockers REO Speedwagon, Styx and .38 Special to the world-class venue on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. MT. Presented by VH1 Classic and Rock Band®, the CAN’T STOP ROCKIN’ 2009 Tour rolls through America, featuring hit-packed sets spanning the course of these three unparalleled rock legacies. The tour is geared to give the ultimate classic rock experience at a fan-friendly ticket price, with some tickets starting as low as $13.50.
To celebrate their upcoming trek together, STYX and REO Speedwagon teamed up to record a new single, “Can’t Stop Rockin’,” co-written by REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin and STYX’s Tommy Shaw. “Can’t Stop Rockin’” makes its radio debut in March and will be available for download.
RSL Season Ticket Holders will be given an advanced pre-sale opportunity to purchase tickets for this event, beginning next Tuesday, March 17th at 10:00 a.m. This pre-sale window will run through Thursday, March 19th at 10:00 p.m. Details for purchasing tickets during this pre-sale will be sent to all Season Ticket Holders this Friday, March 13th via a client experience e-mail.
Having seen all these groups play back in my high school days, one has to wonder how long it will take before someone asks “what is that smell?”
It is clear that now that RSL has their own stadium that the staff has been hard at work to ensure that the organization has the same success of the pitch as the team did on it last year. I for one like the effort that is being made, it is a step forward for the organization. Way to go!!
