Real Salt Lake Stadium- 13 days until first match

A couple notes and pics from practice

Well I was able to make a jailbreak from work today to go watch practice at the new stadium, and it was impressive as I walked in the first thing that hit me was the smell of the grass, what a pleasant thing it was. With a match tomorrow the practice was intense but not too long; it was good to see how well the pitch held up during the practice. It really looked like carpet that you could just run the vacuum cleaner over and it would be just like new. Here are a couple pictures from today’s practice session:

Wingert goes for a shot on the mini goal, but Horst lays down to block the shot

Kyle takes a shot on goal (let’s hope we see more of this tomorrow)

It really does look like carpet, even up close it looks good

Stadium updates

So with just 13 days left the construction is moving at a rapid place and today there were workers in a number of areas, some of the most impressive efforts are that the upper deck is almost complete as are the south stands (which just a few days ago looked like they might not be ready by the 9th). A lot of work in the suite areas, and the concourses and common areas, the branding and names of concession areas has made great progress and all the video boards we working, as well as the very large and very nice scoreboard. You will notice in the pictures that on the right side of the main screen there is a smaller screen, but not on the left side. I have a feeling that the area may be waiting on the branding effort that will come when the naming rights partner is announced (I hear that is coming very, very soon)? I got my first look at the visitor’s locker room, not as nice as the home locker room, but still a very nice area. I also got a look at the audio and video areas, which are really impressive.

Enough talk, here are some pictures:

Fireplace in the Club (are they going to sell the naming rights to this area as well?)

Some very cool video equipment, all I want is a couple hours to play with it all

I thought I had a lot of cables behind my TV

soon to be my favorite concession area

View from Section 8 row A seat 2 (again the view in person is so much better)

Section 9 is almost complete

More clever branding

Work on the goals gets underway

I could post a ton more pictures, but I will put more at: http://connect.roguecavaliers.com/photo

Also here is a fun video made out of a series of photos of Mr. Joy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAbsq75e5hw)

That is all for now, it may take a while for all the photos to get loaded, so keep checking back.
