Real Salt Lake bids Talley farewell

One of the bright points of last season was the heart shown by Carey Talley, before his injury in May of last year. Upon his return the heart was still there, but something was missing, and the impact it had was that Carrey Talley was no longer the bulldog that had won over RSL fans, it carried over to this season where again it appeared that Carey’s heart was there but with an abundance of defensive minded midfielders and his 6 digit salary appeared to be too much. Of all the teams to go to the hated Goats of LA, but it is sure that his defensive skills will be appreciated by a team that has given up 13 goals in 6 matches. I wish Carey the best, except when facing RSL.

Official Press Release

Real Salt Lake announced a trade with Chivas USA on Friday, with RSL sending MF Carey Talley to the Southern California club in exchange for a conditional second round selection in either the 2010 or 2011 MLS SuperDraft.

“We would like to sincerely thank Carey Talley for his three years of service to Real Salt Lake,” said RSL General Manager Garth Lagerwey. “We are fortunate to have had Carey provide tremendous veteran leadership to some very young teams during his tenure with RSL and wish him all the best with Chivas USA. Real Salt Lake would like to recognize Carey for his efforts on behalf of the organization throughout the Salt Lake community, as he served as a great ambassador for the club and the sport of soccer on many fronts over the last three seasons.”
