Some Humor, Thursday night prediction, and whatever

Now this is just plain funny
DC United gets a jersey sponsor Now unlike the totally cynical responses we get from some people when we lose a match, I found great humor in the approach of at least one DC United supporter. I also recommend Tips for commenting on a blog.

DC United vs. Columbus Crew

In their 3 meetings last year Columbus won 3 of them including the seasons final game at RFK, well at least the final game for Columbus, who have not made the playoffs since RSL was just a pipe dream (2004 for those of you without an imagination). So Columbus is coming off a great win over Chivas, who finished with 9 men, but Columbus still came from behind for a 4-3 win. On the other hand you have DC United coming off a beat down 0-4 in their trip to Salt Lake City, and their only MLS goals come at home against Toronto (4-1 win). This one is tough to call but I am going to have to believe that DCU will bounce back and be playing angry, so I am going to pick a 3-2 win over the Crew on Thursday evening 6pm MST on ESPN2 and also ESPN2HD.

RSL Headlines and News

So here are a couple things I found in the news dealing with RSL:

Real Salt Lake: Players try to keep D.C. victory in perspective Deseret News
For the fans in stands, last week’s 4-0 win over D.C. United represented one of the greatest moments in Real Salt Lake history. Not only was it the team’s most lopsided victory, but it came against the team with the best regular-season record in 2007. Afterward in the locker room, though, the players were handling the win with much more self-restraint.

Kreis not afraid to change lineup SL Trib
Jason Kreis isn’t resistant to change. Real Salt Lake has played three games this season, and Kreis has fielded different starting lineups in each one. The RSL head coach believes starting jobs should be earned during practices and matches and not an assumed designation.

Week 3 MLS Power Rankings American Soccer News
9. Real Salt Lake (1-1-1, 4 points) W 4-0 vs. DCU
Making real improvements with each passing game, last weekend’s thrashing of D.C. United served as a big warning shot to the rest of the league. The fact that this franchise is disappointed with only four points through three games says a lot about their talent.

SBI MLS Best XI: Week 3
Soccer by Ives
Players from Real Salt Lake, Colorado, Columbus and Toronto FC account for eight (Yes, eight) of the 11 slots in this week’s Best XI. Real Salt Lake leads the way wtih the most players after its 4-0 manhandling of D.C. United. SBI player of the week Kyle Beckerman leads the way for Jason Kreis’ group.

And the drama continues

OK, this will be the last comment on the demise, and rebirth(?) of RSLFM. I have been working on websites and blogs for over 6 years, a user of google and yahoo since their creations, and using the internet for business and pleasure since the early 90’s. Not once when I have forgotten a password to one of my many email accounts, or e-commerce sites, or any other online activity have ever run into a company that would send my account password to an email address other than the one I used to register with the site. I find it very interesting that the claim that someone hacked a site by getting google to send the password to an email address other than the registered one, very fishy. I would be much more likely to believe that a common password was used and hacked.

So I am calling on the honest broker of information, at least in her own mind to be honest on what happened, I am sure to save face she will stick to her story. I also find it funny that images and such that would have to be created and then uploaded to a site, were lost. I have every image used on the RCB site in a file on my computer; I can not believe that anyone running a site would not have saved the images used to create banners, links or content used on their site. That would not reside only on the hosting company, but would have had to been uploaded to the hosts servers. So there story is fishier than Carlos Ruiz.
