DONE

Done, yup I am done with a number of things:

  • China, done with it, it was funny to watch guys who know that 6/4/89 is bad, but do not know why.  Maybe not so funny, as sad but to have them react to something they do not understand why it is bad, has some level of humor in it.  But it was two weeks ago and mistakes have been made by several parties involved, how about this put it behind you, get over it, and move on.

  • Free Speech, great concept but why is it that those supporting the “great flag debacle” are some of the very same people who bitch and whine when we say a player “likes little boys”  or suggest that crows do their business on the opposing team?  Where were they when Pablo P. was displayed?  Oh that is right they only want to defend free speech, when it matches their viewpoint or opinions, wow how is that defending free speech?
  •

  • Lawsuits, if you’re upset that you got kicked out of an event, then you should have behaved.  Just because you bought a ticket does not grant you free license to do whatever you want.  If you had bought a movie ticket and kept talking on your cell phone, the theater would be not only justified to toss you but really would be obligated to.  Suing because you got kicked out for waving a flag, which did not even belong to you, is just plain stupid.
  •

  • Losing, listen we are over 1/3 of the way into the season and have not won a single match, that is got to end, over, done.  I understand a new coach, I appreciate new players, but as a fan, this is not acceptable.  It is obvious we need more talent, so let’s do our work and find the missing piece, yes if we have to use our DP slot, and then use it.  We need help, imagine if we had Angel, what if Beckham was coming to Salt Lake, toss us a bone use the time between matches and make an announcement before our July 4th match.  Do it, do it now.
  •

  • Front Office BS, if you are the head of a department in the RSL front office and you make a promise, and then keep it.  There are some very simple things that would make the experience of every fan at every match more enjoyable.  Update the stadium map, update the ticket ordering site, and explain to fans that standing, yelling and having fun is acceptable.  Understand that the loudest, most active fans you have should not be punished but rather embraced.  Pay your staff a living wage; understand that your talented people will only hang around so long because they love soccer and RSL.  You have to pay talented people, because talent deserves it.  Figure out that you cannot be everything to every fan.  If you think that your long term future is going to come from LDS families when your ticket prices jump another $100-150 over the next two seasons, then you simply do not understand the marketplace as well as you think.  You need small families, families without children and single people; those are the groups that will have more disposable income.
  •

  • The local media,  my god can anyone here give a fair and honest account of anything about RSL.  You may not like this but no local media is fair or balanced when it comes to RSL, a great move in trading Klein gets dropped behind the whole china/lawsuit story that is so over but it allows them to give RSL a black eye on a day when a great trade was made.  The stadium is making great progress and I have talked to a several Sandy business people in the last 2 weeks and everyone of them was thrilled with the progress and that the stadium is coming to the area.  But of course no media will cover that.
