Time to get off the pot
June 6, 2007 by f4denz.
There is an old saying “Pi** or get off the pot”, Well it is time for RSL to do something. Fans are in a state of rage being 9 matches in without a win, having traded away the “golden boot” winner from last season to Toronto (of all places, why would you do that to Jeff? Haven’t you seen South Park, those canadians are nothing but a bunch of weird looking freaks, who talk funny) So what will RSL do?
We have one of the hottest keepers in the league Rimando, will we beat him down by signing Kasey Keller (the best American keeper alive)? At least Nick’s resurgence would give us some additional trade value and it’s not like we haven’t traded him before.
Or will we continue to chase after DMB? who has shown no interest in coming back to MLS but that has not stopped rumors for the past 2 years about us signing him.
Wait, surely if our coach gets a “firm talking too” by the MLS powers that be about suggesting that Shalrie Joseph is the type of player that would make a difference on our team, there must be something too it. Oh wait, any coach in MLS and a few overseas would be stupid not to think that Shalrie would improve their team. So much for MLS logic. I promise I will never again ask the coach about a specific player that might be able to improve our club. Jason, that one was my bad.
So then there is the rumor that a certain midfielder from France (no not Zidane…????) wants to leave Chelsea and come to the MLS. Bob the janitor mentioned this player by name several weeks ago and then just yesterday Yahoo.uk.co had in their transfer gossip that statement from him that he would like to come and play in MLS. Bad part is we have to wait at least June 16th before anyone can say anything, since the international transfer window does not open until then. But many have said that RSL has needed a real defensive midfielder from the first kick of the ball in 2005, could this be the “difference maker” that Coach Kreis has been talking about? If you have not figured out who this player is yet, then shame on you Claude Mackelele has played on the French national team for the last two world cups and since 2000 has played for the two most successful teams in the world (Real Madrid and Chelsea), could he be soon be sporting RSL colors? We can only hope.
So the reality is we need to do something, getting a aging defender who gets a red card within his first minute on the pitch for us, is not the solution. At least when Atiba gets red cards it is usually for a direct kick to the balls of some keeper. Please Jason, I know we are very thin but please sent Kotschau packing, we just don’t need him that badly.
Here is hoping that we do not come close to our own record for most matches played without a win and god forbid we have to face Toronto with Jeff on July 4th without a win.
